Day One, New Orleans, the city!

Hi Students! We made it to New Orleans and have been exploring the Audubon Park near our hotel. It's beautiful, and full of wildlife. We even found our first caterpillars!

1. What do you think these caterpillars are looking for? (Clue: What are they crawling on?)

2. How are these caterpillars the same and different from eac
h other? Draw a picture of each in your notebook. Be sure to add details. Draw a line under each so we can name them later. (Go to Ms. Hall's blog to see one more kind of caterpillar. Which do you like the best?)

Can you see all the white spots in the tree below? Ms. Hall and I had a great time watching all the egrets that were building nests and feeding their babies. They made a lot of noise, too! Look closely to find the baby in the first picture.

The last picture is of a different kind of bird. We think it's called a black crowned night heron. Do you see another animal in the picture? What is it?

Hope you all have a good day!!! Check back tomorrow :) Mrs. Armstrong

Hi! How are you doing Ms Armstrong? We miss you.We are very happy that you had a safe trip to New Orleans.
The caterpillar is climbing up the tree. We think that it is looking for some food to eat on the tree. It is a bright yellow and green color. It is a beautiful caterpillar.
Enjoy the rest of the day!

Hi Students!! Thanks for your comments. We have had a good first day in the wetlands. This morning we went out to look for caterpillars, put them in plastic bags and brought them back to the bunkhouse. This afternoon we are going to learn how to identify them (learn what kind of caterpillars they are) and start our zoo lab. We want to keep them alive and learn about them, so we'll we collecting food everyday too, and watching to see how they change. I'll send a few more pictures tonight. Be good in class, and send more comments. I'm happy to know that you are interested in what Ms. Hall and I are doing :) I think about you a lot and will bring a lot more things home to share with you. Mrs. Armstrong

How are you doing?Have you seen some alligators?
This is a nice picture of a caterpillar. We think the caterpillar is climbing up the tree to look for food like green leaves. It is a beautiful yellow caterpillar. Also have you seen some turtles?
Enjoy the rest of your day!
